Gweru, 27 May 2025 – Midlands State University through its Faculty of Social Sciences is driving torward Zimbabwe’s development agenda with an ambitious and timely initiative through a transformative four-day Land Governance Management short course running until 30 May 2025.
Spearheaded by MSU’s Centre for Public Policy and Devolution the course addresses a critical need for practical, short-term training that equips professionals across sectors with the skills, tools and ethical grounding required for effective and accountable land governance.
“Our goal is to be more than an academic institution—we are an active partner in shaping national development through applied research, innovation and specialised training,” said Professor Thomas Marambanyika-Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences whilst delivering welcome remarks on behalf of Executive Dean – Professor Chipo Hungwe.
At the heart of this initiative is a strategic partnership with Transparency International Zimbabwe which is a collaboration that is bringing real-world impact to academic programs.
“Transparency International Zimbabwe’s expertise aligns seamlessly with our vision to be a hub of knowledge, innovation and public service,” Professor Marambanyika added.
This is not just another short course – it is a direct response to Zimbabwe’s growing need for professional capacity building in land governance especially as issues of land administration remain central to national development, social equity and political stability.
Participants are engaging with cutting-edge content that blends theory with hands-on learning and developing both the practical competencies and ethical frameworks essential for driving integrity and accountability in land management systems.
The course has drawn strong attendance reflecting the widespread demand for high-impact and policy-relevant training.
